His Word Alone

Image result for light in darkness

“Let there be light!” resounded to the furthest corners of nothing.

But God had spoken.

His Word alone produced light.  The very origin of our existence.  And His word alone can flood light into our spiritual darkness.

But man sinned, breaking the Creator’s heart.  The only way to redeem the fallen race required the death of the Creator in place of the mortal creation.

Seized with fear, the ruddy fisherman strained at the oars.  Waves broke on them, as they slowly sunk.  Minutes away from a watery grave.  Finally they gave up.  And it was then that they remembered their Master.

Isn’t that what we do?  We try to run our own lives in the way that we want.  But once our way goes awry, then we turn to Jesus for help.

Rousing from sleep, with authority Jesus commanded the wind and the waves. “Peace be still!” And His word alone calmed that stormy sea.  And He can calm the storms in our lives as well, but only when we let Him.  When we sink in despair, He points us to the rainbow.

“Lazarus, come forth!” echoed into the deepest confines of the tomb.  It penetrated to the very heart of death, and roused the body to life.  Still wrapped in graveclothes, Lazarus stepped out of his stony prison.  His word along raised the dead to life.

“With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.” - Matthew 19:26

The very foundations of the earth shook as the cry, “It is finished!”, rang out triumphant from the Lamb of God hanging from Calvary’s cross.  As soon as those words left His trembling lips, the ultimate price was paid.  Man, though fallen, was now redeemed.  His word alone paid our ransom.

Today, He is calling you, “Come, and let us reason together… though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as the snow; though they be red as crimson, they shall be as wool.”  He is offering you eternal life, His robe of righteousness to cover all traces of your sinful past.  His word alone can change your life.

Centuries ago, the voice of God was heard.  “Whom shall I send?  And who will go for us?” Are you willing to answer the call?  Will you go out by faith and say, “Here am I.”  He promises He will never leave us nor forsake us.  His word is true.  His word alone created the world, calmed the storm, raised the dead, and opened the door for man’s salvation.  Let us share His word to the ends of the earth, for He is coming soon!

Peace

What is peace?  What must be done to obtain it?  Is it even possible?  In the midst of the billows of waves life sends our way, peace seems to have sunk out of existence.  Our lives are compassed about with worry, stress, grief, and fear as one after another calamities befall this old world.  But you can still obtain peace while the tempest rages.  But what is peace? Peace is calm assurance from God when you yield all to Him, trusting fully in His plan rather than your own.  So many people are vainly striving for peace, unable to locate its source. In his letter to the Philippians, Paul says, " Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.  And the peace of God, which passeth all understandin g, shall keep your heart s and minds through Christ Jesus."  - Philippians 4:6,7    First of all, we must "be careful for nothing", ...

A Friend of God

Being a friend of God. Can we really be friends with God? Or is He a God that doesn’t want our friendship?  Well, take a look at Enoch, Noah, and Abraham. Genesis 5:22 and 24 says that Enoch walked with God. Genesis 6:9 said that Noah also walked with God. And what about Abraham? James 2:23 says that he was a friend of God! Let’s take a look at Moses. He conversed with God face to face! Was this kind of relationship only for them? No! Take a look at Joshua 1:5. “There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.” God will always be with us! He will never leave us, or forsake us. Incredible!  What is it like to be close to God? Psalm 16:11 says, “Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.” Fullness of joy! That’s amazing. Being close to God is having fullness of joy. Wh...

Roadblocks

Faithful to the End Part 6 By Caleb Tam If you are traveling along a dusty road, and there is a huge roadblock in the way, are you going to reach your destination?  No!  You and I are on that narrow road which leads to heaven.  Are their roadblocks in our way?  Could there be some sin we are clinging to?  Some grudge we're holding, some thought, feeling, habit, or addiction we're not willing to give up?  If we leave those roadblocks sitting there in the middle of the road, we are not going to reach our heavenly destination.  Perhaps you're thinking you're not strong enough to move those roadblocks out of the way.  You're right!  You and I aren't strong enough to move them out of our lives.  But there is good news.  That's not your job!  In fact, the master road builder has been wanting to remove the roadblocks for years, but he hasn't been able to  because you have chained them to the g...
