Behold Him!

In this end time that we are living in as young people, the world is throwing anything and everything at us to blow us off our track.  The world is keen on separating us from Christ and making us to compromise with the world.  How can we stay on our path?
2 Corinthians 3:18 says, “But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.”  What does glory mean?  Glory in this sense means character.  When Moses asked God to show him His glory, God, in response, showed him His character.  (That story in Exodus 33 and 34).  In this verse, our glory, or our character, is exchanged for God’s glory, or His character.
This principle is that by beholding, you become changed.  I’m sure you have noticed that if you spend time with a certain friend, you start to act and think like them.  Maybe you have also noticed that when you focus on something and think about it a lot, you start thinking of it more and more until you become like it.
So how does this relate to staying on the path that God has marked out for us?  When we behold Christ, we become changed into His image, and we think of Him a lot.  Our character becomes more like Christ.  In the same way, when we behold the things of the world, we become like those things, and we think about them a lot.  Our character becomes more like the world.  We must be careful about what we are beholding.
When we behold anything that is not Christ, we are being transformed into the same image as those things.  It’s easy to say that you shouldn’t be beholding bad things, because then you’ll become like those bad things.  But what about good things?  You would say that friends, family, and school work, etc are good things to focus on.  But if they are taking the first place in your mind, the place that belongs to Christ, your relationship with Christ will dwindle become stagnant.  It may also decline, and if you are not careful, it could die away.
When we are beholding Christ, we are becoming more and more like Him, and therefore walking on the path towards heaven.  When we behold Christ’s glory, goodness, suffering, self-denial, it will cause our thoughts to rise upward to heaven, and correspondingly, we will think more and act more like Christ.
Some people run into a problem though.  They say that they cannot possibly behold Christ, because they have not made it a habit, and they are constantly thinking of other things.  The solution?  Read and study your Bible, and look for the ways that God is showing you what He’s like. Look to Christ again and ask Him to give you reminders of His character throughout the day.  He will follow through!
Keep trusting in Jesus!

Peace

What is peace?  What must be done to obtain it?  Is it even possible?  In the midst of the billows of waves life sends our way, peace seems to have sunk out of existence.  Our lives are compassed about with worry, stress, grief, and fear as one after another calamities befall this old world.  But you can still obtain peace while the tempest rages.  But what is peace? Peace is calm assurance from God when you yield all to Him, trusting fully in His plan rather than your own.  So many people are vainly striving for peace, unable to locate its source. In his letter to the Philippians, Paul says, " Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.  And the peace of God, which passeth all understandin g, shall keep your heart s and minds through Christ Jesus."  - Philippians 4:6,7    First of all, we must "be careful for nothing", ...

A Friend of God

Being a friend of God. Can we really be friends with God? Or is He a God that doesn’t want our friendship?  Well, take a look at Enoch, Noah, and Abraham. Genesis 5:22 and 24 says that Enoch walked with God. Genesis 6:9 said that Noah also walked with God. And what about Abraham? James 2:23 says that he was a friend of God! Let’s take a look at Moses. He conversed with God face to face! Was this kind of relationship only for them? No! Take a look at Joshua 1:5. “There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.” God will always be with us! He will never leave us, or forsake us. Incredible!  What is it like to be close to God? Psalm 16:11 says, “Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.” Fullness of joy! That’s amazing. Being close to God is having fullness of joy. Wh...

Roadblocks

Faithful to the End Part 6 By Caleb Tam If you are traveling along a dusty road, and there is a huge roadblock in the way, are you going to reach your destination?  No!  You and I are on that narrow road which leads to heaven.  Are their roadblocks in our way?  Could there be some sin we are clinging to?  Some grudge we're holding, some thought, feeling, habit, or addiction we're not willing to give up?  If we leave those roadblocks sitting there in the middle of the road, we are not going to reach our heavenly destination.  Perhaps you're thinking you're not strong enough to move those roadblocks out of the way.  You're right!  You and I aren't strong enough to move them out of our lives.  But there is good news.  That's not your job!  In fact, the master road builder has been wanting to remove the roadblocks for years, but he hasn't been able to  because you have chained them to the g...
