Purpose

Why are we here?  What is our purpose?  And what lies beyond the grave?  These thought-provoking  questions have never ceased to plague the minds of thousands.  One thing is certain - We are here.  That much we know.  But why?  Why are we here?  Are we seriously just the product of an evolutionary coincidence?  If so, what is there worth living for?  If we got here through sheer evolution, then absolutely nothing could lie beyond the grave other than nothing!  And how could we have moral standards?  How could there be right ad wrong?  All we can have is man-made rules and laws subject to change.  Nothing set in stone.  Yet right and wrong seem so clear.  Life without a purpose feels so empty.  Living for simply self-gratification just to sink into everlasting oblivion.  Perhaps there's more than this to life!  A reason why we're here?  A mission for us to fulfill?  The Bible has proven to be spot on historically.  Perhaps it might give some insight on our existence.

Genesis 1:27 says, "So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created he him."

Matthew 28:19 says, "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost."

Wow!  We were created in the image of a perfect and loving God, formed by God Himself!  And our sole purpose here is to tell others about His unending love, sacrifice, and soon return!

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.  For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved." John 3:16,17

"Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.  In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you.  I go to prepare a place for you.  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also."  John 14:1-3

Amazing!  He died for us, and He went to heaven
to prepare mansions for us!  What love!  There is a reason why we're here, a mission for us to fulfill.  Something worth living for, somewhere to go other than everlasting oblivion.  The Savior invites you today.  "Today if ye will hear His voice, harden not your heart."  Hebrews 3:15

"Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool."  Isaiah 1:18

Jesus is coming soon!!!

Decision Time

Sitting on that rough wooden bench at Young Disciple Camp, conviction grabbed me, and I knew what I had to do.  It was decision time. Shifting into reverse, let's back up a bit to December, 2016.  Each Christmas, instead of giving gifts to each other, our family writes down a gift for Jesus, a resolution related to some struggle we're having, or anything God is calling us to do or surrender for the coming year.  For a while I had felt God calling me to publicly commit my life to Him through baptism.  So that's what I wrote down.   This year I will commit my life to God through baptism.   As the year progressed, I became more and more unsure of my commitment.  I didn't have the courage to make my stand.  That is, until YD.  At Young Disciple Camp, I was greatly blessed by all the campfire talks, Deep Bible Studies, etc.  Sabbath evening, the campers were given a chance to share what God had done for them at cam...

The Treasurefield

“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”  ~2 Timothy 2:15     Many times when we come to this verse, we freeze, feel convicted, and then brush it aside.   Why do we do this?     God has graciously and providentially given us His word, inspiring men of God to write, sometimes on the rolling hills, sometimes in His glorious temples, sometimes in the dusky dungeons.  The authors of this book were anywhere from mighty kings to lowly fishermen, but even though there was such a variety of authors and such a variety of circumstances for writing, the Bible says the same thing straight through.  It does not contradict itself; instead, it explains itself.  It has stood for millennia, and has never failed, once.  Its prophecies have been fulfilled to the letter.  By the Bible, we know what is truth and we understand God....
