Why Haven't You Come?

Let there be light” God’s thunderous voice booms across a shapeless, dark object. Immediately, you see streams of light flowing across a lump of darkness.

“Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters” God’s voice booms and you watch in wonder as clouds rise and form a blanket around a mass of swirling water.

“Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear” God says, and you watch in awe as dry land peeks out from beneath the rolling waves.

Then God says, “Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth” Immediately, the bare and desolate landscape turns a vivid green. You stare in delight as meadows bloom and forests appear.

“Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years” God says. And the sky, once black, suddenly bursts with dots of light. You watch as the moon comes forth, and the sun sends it’s rays toward the blossoming planet.

Then God said, “Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.” Suddenly you hear the air rupture into song and you watch the birds begin to fly. Dolphins and whales splash in the ocean and fish weave their way through the water.

“Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so.” You laugh as dozens of creatures emerge from the forest and you hear the soft hum of insects floating on the breeze.

You sit back and marvel at God’s glorious handiwork. “Is it finished?” You ask, half to yourself. Then you hear God give one final command, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.” You watch as God bends down over the ground, shaping dirt into a perfect form. You marvel at His precision and you watch in wonder as He breathes into its mouth. Immediately the dust comes to life. But God isn’t finished yet, He forms a woman from one of the man’s ribs to keep the man company in the beautiful home.
You marvel at the perfect world but then suddenly, time speeds up and you watch in horror as the woman eats the forbidden fruit. Then you watch as a little baby lies in a manger, you see Him grow up, and you grow to love Him. You listen intently as He says, “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also” But then you weep as you see God’s son hanging upon the cross, you shudder as a man rolls a stone in front of His tomb. You watch in wonder as He comes back to life.

All of a sudden, you wake up and realize you’re in a sinful world, waiting for His return. “Where are you, God?” you cry, “You promised you’d come and take me home to the beautiful Garden of Eden! Why haven’t you come?”

“And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

The only thing left to happen before Jesus can come is for the world know about Jesus! As soon as we tell the whole world, Jesus will come back and take us to our home in heaven.

I can’t wait to be reunited with Jesus and to walk in the beautiful Garden of Eden. So what are we waiting for? We need to tell our friends, our neighbors, and our family! Let’s do all we can to hasten His return! And let's start today.

Slay Your Son

With a trembling hand and tears in his eyes, he lifted the knife high above the submissive form of his only son. In Genesis 22:2, God gives Abraham a fearful message. " Take now your son, your only  son  Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.” Slay his only son!  The Promised son born to him at 100?  God had even told Abraham that the deliverer would rise from Isaac's lineage.  If he slayed his son, he would be slaying all hope of man's deliverance.  But he still obeyed.  Setting out for Moriah immediately, he brought wood and the sacrifice, his son.  Three days they journeyed to the appointed place, yet through all those long hours Abraham remained steadfast despite the task ahead of him.   Reaching Moriah, he explains to his precious son what God had commanded.  Isaac submits willingly and allows himself to b...
